Art is based in Silicon Valley and has over 25 years of experience in identifying technology-based business opportunities, creating the organizations to address them and developing and executing the plans to bring them to fruition.
A serial Silicon Valley entrepreneur, Art began by writing real-time networking software and later managing the technical development of Tymnet, the world’s first commercial packet-switched network, a predecessor of today’s Internet. Tymnet was sold and eventually became the basis of MCI’s data services network. In 1983, as Founder and Chairman of Cohesive Networks he raised capital from leading Silicon Valley venture capitalists and created early broadband switching technologies. Cohesive was sold to Digital Communications Inc in 1987. Next, as co-founder and CEO of DataAmerica, he raised $10m in debt financing from Nortel and created an inter-RBOC data network service. DataAmerica was later acquired by Western Union.
Art has broad experience from technical contributor to Founder and CEO, including raising funds from both major corporate partners and top VCs. Leveraging this experience as a venture catalyst, since 1986, he has been actively participating in the inception, structuring, financing and launching of numerous technology and information based ventures.
Art is currently a member of Board of Directors a well as active consultant to The MediaTile Corporation, a pioneer in Cellular Digital Signage products and services; an advisor to Whagaa, provider of IPhone apps; and a co-founder and Managing Partner of Vidco, provider of Video VOIP telephony services.
